Respect London Members
Welcome to the London Members area of the Respect website.
In 2008 Respect received London Councils funding under Service 70 Reduction of violent behaviour through second tier support to domestic violence perpetrator programmes. Consequently, we have been able to employ a London Development Officer to support our Respect London Member Organisations (RLMOs) with accreditation readiness & other areas of their work.
We currently support 5 London member organisations:
Domestic Violence Intervention Project (DVIP)
Positive Change Programme

Funding:
Despite their outstanding effort in supporting the needs of over 1000 clients - projects in London (as elsewhere in the UK) are likely to come under financial pressure in the current economic climate and government spending review. Respect will be publishing a report highlighting the effectiveness of programmes working with men who use violence in their relationships and this will be available to down load shortly.

Additionally we have been working with the London Drug & Alcohol Network to try and improve the quality of responses where issues of domestic violence, drugs and alcohol are linked. Fathering:
Respect has also been working with father's projects in London to help develop better links between father's services and domestic violence services. This included support in an advisory capacity for the development of an educational DVD KIM in conjunction with a young-fathers project based at St. Michael's Fellowship and Latimer Films. We have also responded to the ongoing enquiries we have about the use of the Caring Dads programme in the UK through the publication of a position statement which we hope will clarify some issues for practitioners and commissioners as well as advancing the debate on where the Caring Dads Programme should sit within current UK domestic violence provision.
