Healthcare professionals
Research shows that healthcare professionals are one of the few groups of people that perpetrators may disclose to about domestic abuse. We receive calls from GPs, nurses, clinical psychologists and other healthcare professionals enquiring about working with domestic violence perpetrators and about specialist programmes.
Respect has worked in partnership with NHS Barking and Dagenham and developed a resource for healthcare professionals with support from the Greater London Domestic Violence Project. This resource was produced by NHS Barking and Dagenham:

Our approach is safety-focused. Another resource we have developed is a document called 'Guidelines for working with perpetrators'
You can also read a case study we have put together: a patient visits his GP complaining he's stressed and can't sleep properly. The GP already knows that the patient has used violence towards his wife but cannot disclose this information (patient confidentiality). How will the GP obtain a disclosure from the man himself?
