Dads' Space

The Dads' Space virtual contact centre is closed.

Due to a recent cut in funding we are very sorry to announce that Dads' Space is closing and is not taking any new referrals.

Dads' Space was designed to ensure that contact arrangements could be effectively managed in difficult circumstances. The mechanism through which many young people conduct their social relationships is undergoing a revolution. One in four parents said they use social networking sites to stay in touch with their children (Relate, 2010). Young people are increasingly comfortable with this new technology but many of us have been slow to realise how this technology could add to a safe, supervised child contact. Dads' Space 1-2-1, the Virtual Contact Centre, took this new technology and made it work to keep children safe and to support their relationship with fathers (and at times mothers) from whom they were separated. The site encouraged Dads to maintain and enhance their relationship with their children; enabling children to stay in contact with their Dad, even in difficult circumstances.

We are aware that this was the only form of contact that many of our families were able to use and are very sorry to have to close the service. If you have been using the service we recommend that you contact the person who referred your family to seek alternative contact arrangements (this may have been a Cafcass Officer or Social Worker).
